Siobhan Convery, Head of Special Collections at the University of Aberdeen and a member of the Capturing the Energy Steering Group, presented a paper at the Norwegian Oil & Gas Archive's launch.
Siobhan Convery, Janet Stewart and Capturing the Energy's Project Development Officer Katy Johnson attended the launch of the Norwegian 'Oljearkivet' (Oil and Gas Archive) at Exxon Mobil's Norwegian offices at Sandes, on the 16th October 2014.
The archive was launched by the Norwegian Culture Minister Thorhild Widwey. Speakers at the event included the director general of the Norwegian Oil Industry Association, Gro Brækken, the Lead Country Manager of ExxonMobil Norway, Morten Mauritzen, and the first CEO of Statoil, Arve Johnsen. Storytelling by Anne Elise Beth Skogen about life as a nurse at the Frigg field was accompanied by beautiful performances on the flute and ocarina from Kristin Sandvik Halgunset. Siobhan spoke about the wider European context of oil and gas archives, including the Capturing the Energy project.
Fredrik Hagemann, the first Director of the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate, and Mr Johnsen were special guests at the event which was attended by representatives from government, the industry and researchers. To learn more about the Oljearkivet, visit the website.
